5th Grade Common Core Reading Literature Activities

Next year there aren't any 5th graders at my school who will be on IEPs, so I know I won't be teaching 5th grade special ed. However, I absolutely adore the people on my team, and I feel we've gotten to know each other really well this year! I've been somewhat of the "go to" person when it comes to finding extra activities outside of the curriculum.

Anyway, my coteacher asked me the other day if I would find her resources to use next year for 5th Grade Reading Common Core standards because she knows I won't be around to help her throughout the year. I quickly agreed, thinking it would take me several weeks. However - I had this list compiled in less than 24 hours. Best of all, everything I listed is FREE!

I did not find activities for every literature standard, but I covered many of them. Hopefully you will find this download useful if you teach 5th grade! Heck - some of these activities may even work well for 4th or 6th grade. =)

Click on the picture below to download your FREE list of activities/downloads broken down by standard!

Is this resource helpful to you? Would you like to see similar resources made for more grade levels or areas? (I can't promise that I'll get that done, but you never know what I might be able to do with my time!)

WOW!! What an awesome resource!! Can I come to your school? You are extremely skilled at finding applicable resources that truly meet the goal of the standards! I'm not sure if I will be able to move up grades next year, but if so, I'll be emailing you for tips:)

Thanks for your comment, and I'm glad you think I'm "amazing". =)

I can't make any promises that I'll get to the third grade ones, but you just never know... Right now my summer plans are completely up in the air - so who knows! Stay tuned... =)

Fantastic! My 5th grade team was thrilled to see this at PLC meeting today and ready to start planning for next year : )

Any chance there is a similar resource for 5th grade math Common Core coming out?

Thank you so much for putting this together! This will be a great base for me next year when we start fully implementing common core. You are awesome at finding great resources and making them too. I realized when I was printing things off I have already been using your figurative language resources already:)

Thank you for the positive comments! You know - I hadn't even thought about putting together math activities, but that is a definite possibility. I'll see what I can get put together this summer. I make no promises, but who knows! :)

Wow! Thanks. We will be starting common core next year. I've been meaning to look into it before next school year but don't have time to yet. This will definitely make my job easier.
