This week's funny is another one from the Hutterite colony I taught at for my first two years in education.

One of the middle school students in the classroom next door had asked me to write down any silly/cute things my students said throughout the year. So from time to time I would do just that.
The boys often loved this and tried to find ways to "show off", knowing they would probably end up in the school newspaper. The girls, however, were a bit more timid about it.
As I was teaching a 3rd grade math lesson one day over temperature, I asked the class, "At what temperature does water boil?"
A little girl who normally really struggled started frantically waving her hand, going "oooo, ooo, ooooooo". Of course I had to call on her! She seemed so confident and I wanted that to continue.
So I again asked, "When does water boil?", directly to her.
She screamed out, "SUMMER!!".
The minute the word came out of her mouth her face turned bright red, and she yelled, "No, no, no! That's not right!"
But it was too late, I had already gone running for the "funny pad" I kept on my desk. I had to write that comment down!
(I later asked her privately if she wanted me to include it in the school newspaper, and she was fine with it so it was definitely included!!)
